Today’s halfdog award nominee-Colorado Avalanche

Today’s halfdog nominee is the Colorado Avalanche.  Last night, the Avalanche had a 2-0  lead over the Anaheim Ducks going into the third period.  Things however turned south for Colorado, who allowed four goals in the third and lost 4-2.  Ryan Getzlaf scored with just under 26 seconds left to seal the game.  Giving away a game like that will always nominate a team for halfdog of the week.

Today’s halfdog award nominee-Keith Ballard

Today’s halfdog award nominee is Keith Ballard of the Florida Panthers.  After the Panthers gave up a goal to the Atlanta Thrashers, Ballard was frustrated and went to hit the goal post with his stick.  Unfortunately his stick hit his own goalie.  Panters goalie Tomas Vokoun was lucky enough to take that hit from Ballard, was bleeding from ear.  Don’t worry Ballard you only sent your own goalie to the hospital for a bit of rage, good trade off.

After Henrik Andersen scored his first goal for the Leksand hockey team from Sweden, he celebrated, and went through the glass.  Congrats on your first goal, but that celebration will get you our halfdog of the week award! Congrats

Today’s halfman nominee-Jeff Halpern

Today’s halfman nominee is Jeff Halpern.  Last night Halpern took a puck from his own teammate to the face, then came back and helped the Lightning get a win against the Minnesota Wild in a shootout.  Halpern bled all over the ice but like all hockey players was just fine later.  Any hockey player, and Halpern specifically is tough guy, and Halpern is today’s nominee for the halfman.
