Halfman of the Day – Vincent Jackson

17 12 2010

Today’s Halfman award winner has to be Vincent Jackson.  Last night Jackson recorded his first ever three touchdown game and the first three touchdowns of the season in the Chargers 34-7 victory over the San Francisco 49ers.  Jackson’s effort kept the Chargers in the AFC West race by pulling them within a half game.  Jackson’s clearly proved to be the Halfman of the day.

Halfman of the Day – New York Knicks

15 12 2010

I never thought that I would give a Halfman Award to the Knicks.  But with Amare Stoudemire on board and an 8-game winning streak, its hard to look past the Knicks and their 16-8 record.  Yes they will most likely to lose tonight to the Boston Celtics, but until they do, enjoy the winning streak, enjoy being relevant again, and enjoy being the Halfman of the day.

HMHD Returning to Action

14 12 2010

Hello all HMHD fans and friends.  After a much too long layover, the site is going to get back up and kicking.  We appreciate all the support from before and will appreciate in the future.  Nothing drastic will change on the site, we will still give out our daily Halfman and Halfdog awards as well as our entertaining youtube clip of the day.  Before we took our several month break, we started focusing on local teams a little bit more including the Utah Jazz and Utah State Aggies.  That will continue along with national headlines.  My personal favorite topic, the Marcin Gortat Updater will be in full force again.  The Polish Hammer is in action tonight as the Orlando Magic travel to Denver to take on the Nuggets.  We will have his first update of the season on the site tomorrow.  If you have any comments or suggestions, feel free to email us at suggestions@hmhdsports.com

Today’s halfman – Kobe Bryant

2 02 2010

Last night, while playing the Memphis Grizzlies, Kobe Bryant passed Laker great Jerry West as the all-time leading scorer in the history of the Los Angeles Lakers.   Bryant who now has scored a career 25,208 points, posted 44 last night in the Lakers loss to the Grizzlies.  When asked about his new record, Bryant said “It’s a great honor to say the least [because] of the great players that have played here and the tradition we have”.  Even though the Lakers lost, Bryant set a pretty good record last night, and earns himself the halfman of the day.

Today’s halfman – Shaun White

1 02 2010

Today’s halfman award nominee is Shaun White.  White won his third consecutive Winter X Games SuperPipe Gold.  The fact that “The Flying Tomato” won didn’t surprise anyone, but the way he won was awesome.  White slammed his face on a practice run got up and won the event doing a 1260 Double McTwist.  Being fearless makes you halfman worthy, now let’s hope he can do more of the same in Vancouver for the Olympics.

Today’s halfdog – Rex Ryan

1 02 2010

Rex Ryan is a perfect candidate for today’s halfdog award.  Ryan, who never shys away from offcolor topics, flipped off a bunch of fans at an MMA fight in Miami.  Ryan, who apologized yesterday, originally was booed when he was shown on the big screen, which lead to the middle finger gesture.  To make it even better, Ryan said with a grin, “I’d like to thank everybody here in Miami. I know they love me, I want to just tell everybody in Miami, hey, we’re coming to beat you twice next year.”  Any form of this behavior from a NFL head coach is clearly worthy of today’s halfdog award.

Today’s halfman award nominee- Kurt Warner

29 01 2010

Today’s halfman award nominee is Kurt Warner.  Warner retired today after a what most consider to be a hall of fame career.  Warner’s rise to prominence is the ultimate underdog story, he went from grocery clerk to Super Bowl champion in the blink of an eye.  As long as Warner doesn’t pull a Brett Favre, I tip my cap to Kurt Warner.  Warner has been nothing, but a class act on and off the field and he is today’s halfman award nominee.

Today’s halfman award nominee- Terrence Williams

28 01 2010

Today’s halfman award nominee is Terrence Williams.  The Nets picked up a win last night, they’re 4-40 now and Williams only contributed nine points.  Four Williams points came via some ridiculous dunks, if you don’t believe me take a look at the videos on NBA.com.  I know the NBA is having a dunk-off to get into the Slam Dunk Contest and I nominate Terrence Williams.

Today’s halfman award nominee-Charlotte Bobcats

27 01 2010

For years now, the Charlotte Bobcats could be found in the dictionary under the word horrible.  This year however, they are no where near that word.   The Bobcats, won a huge road game last night beating the Phoenix Suns 114-109 in overtime.   Charlotte has won seven out of their last ten, and currently the Bobcats are sitting seventh in the Eastern Conference standings.  With key addition Stephen Jackson, the Bobcats should have enough to make the playoffs.  Charlotte has proven they can beat any team (Cavs twice), and have earned themselves our halfman nomination of the day.

Today’s halfman award nominee- Carlos Boozer

26 01 2010

Today’s halfman award nominee is Carlos Boozer.  Boozer had 21 points and 20 rebounds in a big come from behind win for the Jazz last night.  Boozer has played a major role in the Jazz current winning streak, which is great because now Deron Williams can shave his beard if they win a couple more games, before he starts looking like Baron Davis.
