Halfdog of the Day – Yao Ming

17 12 2010

Today’s Halfdog award goes to Yao Ming.  Ming didn’t win the award today because he is out indefinitely with yet another foot injury, but rather his response to it.  When asked about the injury, Ming responded by saying: “I haven’t died,” he said. “Right now I’m drinking a beer and eating fried chicken. What were you expecting, a funeral?”  Can anybody picture Yao eating chicken or drinking beer? If you are like me, I can only picture sushi and sake.  What an incredible response like that lands Yao Ming our Halfdog award of the day.

Halfdog of the Day – Tarvaris Jackson

16 12 2010

After Brett Favre ended his historical consecutive games started streak at 297, Tarvaris Jackson ended his own at 1.  Jackson finally got a chance to start since the arrival of Favre and promptly ended his season with a turf toe injury and a trip to the season ending injured reserved list.  Sadly enough Jackson, you have to be today’s Halfdog, but just like your starting streak, it won’t last long.

Halfdog of the Day – Sal Alosi

15 12 2010

Sal Alosi, strength and conditioning coach for the New York Jets, has won today’s Halfdog Award in a landslide.  As you can see in the video above, Alosi stupidly tripped a Miami Dolphin player while running by on a kickoff coverage.  The Jets initially suspended Alosi for the remainder of the season, but today changed that suspension to indefinitely.  I hope someone would trip Alosi on his way to the podium to accept his Halfdog Award.

HMHD Returning to Action

14 12 2010

Hello all HMHD fans and friends.  After a much too long layover, the site is going to get back up and kicking.  We appreciate all the support from before and will appreciate in the future.  Nothing drastic will change on the site, we will still give out our daily Halfman and Halfdog awards as well as our entertaining youtube clip of the day.  Before we took our several month break, we started focusing on local teams a little bit more including the Utah Jazz and Utah State Aggies.  That will continue along with national headlines.  My personal favorite topic, the Marcin Gortat Updater will be in full force again.  The Polish Hammer is in action tonight as the Orlando Magic travel to Denver to take on the Nuggets.  We will have his first update of the season on the site tomorrow.  If you have any comments or suggestions, feel free to email us at suggestions@hmhdsports.com

Today’s halfdog – Rey Maualuga

2 02 2010

Rey Maualuga of the Cincinnati Bengals pleaded guilty to drunken driving Tuesday and received a suspended sentence.  Maualuga was a second round pick out of USC and had a good rookie season finishing fourth on the team in tackles.  However, when you drive drunk and crash into two parked cars and a parking meter you are going to be a halfdog nominee.

Today’s halfdog award nominee-Mark Madsen

28 01 2010

For today’s halfdog nomination, we are giving tribute to Mark Madsen, the former NBA player.  Today Madsen turned 34 years of age, and basically is a lifetime halfdog.  Madsen has airballed consecutive free throws, had “Twilight” like pale skin, and of course graced the country with this horrible dance.   Madsen, happy birthday, and happy halfdog nomination.

Today’s halfdog award nominee-SEC

27 01 2010

Sadly enough, the students at South Carolina cost their school a fine of 25,000 dollars.  Why, do you ask? Because they celebrated on the court after watching their men’s basketball team beat the number one ranked Kentucky Wildcats.  Not only was it the school’s first victory over a top ranked team (68-62),  but arguable, the biggest win of school history.  So how does the SEC respond to this big win?  By fining the students and school for being excited.  The SEC conference earns our nomination today for our halfdog.
