A half, seriously?

Florida Spikes Suspended Football

If you’ve been watching the news lately you know that Brandon Spikes decided to shove his fingers into Georgia running back Washaun Ealey’s face mask.  What is going through Brandon Spikes mind that he does that, seriously?  What possible result could he have hoped for by trying to rip another man’s eye out on that run?  He could have only hoped to blind Ealey or make a fool of himself.  Ealey is fine, but Spikes definitely made a fool of himself and in so doing forced Coach Urban Meyer to take action.

What kind of punishment did Meyer lay down?  He suspended Brandon Spikes, for half of the Vanderbilt game.  A half of the Vanderbilt game, is this some kind of joke? Maybe Urban is still mad about this celebration a couple of years ago and thinks Georgia still has it coming to them.  Spikes doesn’t get to play in the first half of the game, and I’m sure he is heartbroken about it.  Spikes probably wasn’t going to play in the second half of this game if the score is anything like they’re predicting.  What does it say about Urban Meyer and the SEC, who say it’s a fitting punishment for what took place?

Do you find it odd that everybody praises Tim Tebow and on the other side of the ball Brandon Spikes is gouging people’s eyes out?   As bothersome as that idiotic cheap shot Spikes took at Ealey is, the bigger deal is Florida not suspending him for an entire game.  They don’t need Brandon Spikes to beat Vanderbilt so why don’t the Gators just sit him down, it’s ridiculous.  Then again maybe we should listen to what Washaun Ealey has to say.
