Remember when… Terrell Owens mattered

Terrell Owens on the star

It wasn’t long ago that every Monday morning you could bank on a large segment of SportsCenter being devoted to Terrell Owens and what he’d done the day before.  Now I ask the question does anyone know if T.O. even played on Sunday. We weren’t sure how Owens has been doing this year, but we looked and he has 18 catches for 241 yards and one TD on the year, or nine yards and one TD less than Miles Austin picked up against the Chiefs, ouch.

Remember when, Terrell Owens was the best receiver on the planet, we do.  A story that comes to mind is Super Bowl XXXIX, between the Philadelphia Eagles and the New England Patriots.  In that game Owens caught nine passes for 122 yards only a few weeks removed from a broken leg.  Owens was the best player on the field that day and that used to always be the case.

Now Owens is a just another face in the crowd, there’s still a chance Owens ends up being a big story this year, but only if he blows up off the field.  Because the truth is he doesn’t blow up on the field anymore and even if he did would anyone notice while he’s playing in Buffalo?  It’s too bad the Bills don’t play the Cowboys this year maybe he’d stand on the star at midfield to celebrate after a couple of touchdowns.  That’s probably a little too farfetched…that he’d score a couple touchdowns in a game that is.  Well at least he has his reality show right, or is it even still on the air?
